British Values

Promoting Fundamental British Values

In accordance with the Department for Education, we actively promote British values to ensure our pupils leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. We encourage pupils to respect and value people of all faiths, races, and cultures, and to understand that while individuals may hold different views about what is “right” and “wrong,” everyone living in England is subject to its law.

We embed these values through our curriculum, assemblies and wider school life. Pupils learn about democracy and how citizens can influence decision-making, the rule of law and why it is essential for safety and fairness, individual liberty and the freedoms protected by law and the importance of mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs. We also teach pupils to recognise and challenge discrimination in all its forms.

The Key Values are:

  • Democracy
  • Rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual respect
  • Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
