Public Sector Equality Duty

At Wild Bank Primary, we believe every child deserves to feel valued, respected, and supported. Equality and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do. This means we work hard to make sure all pupils—whatever their background, ability, or identity—have the same opportunities to succeed and thrive.

Our Commitment

We are committed to promoting equality and diversity and ensuring compliance with the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) under the Equality Act 2010.

This duty requires us to:

  • Eliminate discrimination, harassment, and victimisation
  • Advance equality of opportunity for all
  • Foster good relations between different groups within our school community

Equality Objectives

In line with statutory requirements, we set measurable equality objectives and review them at least every four years. Our current objectives are:

  1. Improve accessibility for pupils with SEND by enhancing classroom resources and adapting facilities
  2. Reduce attainment gaps between disadvantaged pupils and their peers through targeted interventions and support
  3. Promote diversity and inclusion across the curriculum and through whole-school events celebrating different cultures and backgrounds

How We Meet the Duty

We take practical steps to meet the Equality Duty, including:

  • Delivering an inclusive curriculum that reflects diversity
  • Providing staff training on equality and anti-discrimination
  • Implementing robust anti-bullying policies
  • Engaging with parents and the wider community to foster positive relationships
