Applying for a place

Our school is a Primary and Nursery School which admits children between the ages of three and eleven years old. We welcome all pupils, irrespective of faiths, cultures, races, disabilities or family backgrounds. Prospective parents are very welcome to contact school to discuss their child starting at Wild Bank.

Applying for a Nursery place

We offer 30 hour Nursery places or 15 hour morning Nursery places. We do have an additional January and April intake for Nursery, pupils are eligible to start at Nursery the term after they turn 3 years old, if there are places available. Please note that unfortunately attendance at the Nursery does not guarantee a place in Reception at the school.

Parents who wish to access 30 hours of nursery provision can also pay school directly for the additional 15 hours per week at a cost of £15 per session, paid in arrears. This is managed in accordance with the school’s Charging Policy and does not affect parents’ statutory entitlements.

Nursery Funding and Charges

From January 2026, Early Education Providers are required to publish the costs of any chargeable extras in line with the Department for Education’s Statutory Guidance. Costs should be clear, up-to-date and easily accessible to parents, to enable parents to make an informed choice of provider.

Applying for a Reception place

For Reception admissions we follow the co-ordinated admissions process managed by Tameside Council using an online portal. The online portal opens every November for applications for Reception places for the following year.

Please go to the following link to apply
https://admission.tameside.gov.uk/CitizenPortal_LIVE/Account/Login
or go to
https://www.tameside.gov.uk/admissions

Once the closing date for applications has passed, the online portal will close for 2 weeks to enable all on time applications to be processed. The online portal will re-open two weeks after the closing date to accept late applications.  Late applications will only be dealt with after all on time applications have been processed.

We are then notified in April of pupils who have been allocated a place for the following September.

Please do not hesitate to contact the school office if you have any further questions.

School Transfers

It is generally in your child’s best interest to remain at the same school for the whole of the Key Stage and ideally, the whole of the primary phase.

A decision to move your child from one school to another should not be taken lightly and, in view of the upheaval it is likely to cause, should only be considered as a last resort. We do realise that, in certain circumstances, it may be necessary to transfer your child to another school, for example if you are moving house on a permanent basis and the distance would make it impossible to attend their current school. In these circumstances, however, it is not guaranteed that a place at Wild Bank Community School will be available.

If you are moving into Tameside or you wish to pursue a transfer, forms can be obtained from your child’s current school, the Tameside School Admissions Team Tel: 0161 342 3204/4068/3214 or you can click here to download a Tameside Council Primary School Transfer Form.

Please complete the form fully and give the completed form to your child’s current school for them to complete their section and then they will send the form to Tameside Admissions for them to process.

Please do not hesitate to contact the school office if you have any further questions.
